Time to dust off your sand salt spreader. Winter is fast approaching and it is time to start getting your snow removal equipment ready. If you are in the snow business like us, one of the most important tools at your disposal is your stainless sand salt spreader. The only efficient way to spread ice melt and sand is through the use of a commercial truck mounted sander. There are lots of units to choose from. You should choose a sand salt spreader that fits your needs. The size of your truck and the type of product used will both determine what unit is best for your needs.
Choosing a sand salt spreader.
Poly Units– Poly units are light weight and less expensive than their metal counter parts. The benefits of choosing a poly sand salt spreader is that it is not painted and it will not rust. Poly units tend to be less durable than metal units. The poly material does not stand up as well to accidental contact when you are loading your hopper.
Painted Units– Painted truck mounted sand and salt spreaders are basically the same exact unit as the stainless steel units, except they are painted. If you have used a painted unit before, you are probably regretting saving a few bucks. Painted units will start to lose their eye appeal quickly once they encounter salt products. If image is not your thing, then these units perform just as well as the stainless steel units.
Stainless Steel Units– If you are going to purchase a sand salt spreader, I would recommend going with a stainless steel unit. We have a unit that is six years old and it looks almost as good as the new unit we bought last year. If you take care of your equipment, it will take care of you. The stainless steel units are definitely worth a few more bucks if your image is important to your company. We want our fleet of equipment to look its best, this is why we opt for stainless steel units.
