Green grass can be obtained through proper horticultural practices.  All it takes is a few good lawn grooming habits to get green grass in your yard.  The first thing you need to do is mow your lawn on a regular basis.  The blade of the grass is where the nutrients of the plant are stored.  If you stress your grass by cutting too much of the blade off at one time your grass will yellow.  Part of the reason for the yellowing is the removal of nutrients from the plant.  The second is because you are exposing parts of your grass to light for the first time.  If you focus on cutting your lawn once a week, you will almost never remove more than a third of the plant at one time.

Proper watering will help you get green grass.  Since the grass plant itself is made up of 90% water, it needs a lot of water to flourish.  When your grass does not get enough water, the blades shrink and turn gray and then to brown.  A good way to avoid browning of grass is to provide your lawn with at least an inch of water a week.  The inch of water needs to be slow and soaking.  If there is a hard rain that produces more than an inch of water and it runs off, then your grass did not get an inch of water.  Generally if it rains an inch over the course of 3 or 4 hours, then you have received enough saturation.

Green Grass

Proper fertilizing will give your yard green grass.

Green grass is not, let me repeat, not obtained through randomly sprinkling fertilizer on your lawn.  Fertilization is a science and the proper nutrients must be applied to produce the proper results.  Click this link to find out what formulation of fertilizer will help you get green grass for your yard.
