Lawn care tips to enhance the performance of your of your grass can be summed up in a few terms: soil, water, fertilize, sunlight, weed control and mow.  If you have been reading this blog on a regular basis you have seen us post quite a few lawn care tips on how to get your yard greener.  There are really only few simple thing that you need to grow a healthy lawn.  The first thing to start out with is good soil.  Good soil can be classified as nutrient rich, low clay high organic material.  Black dirt or topsoil works wonders for a solid foundation.  Most new home buyers do not realize that most of their topsoil has been taken out of their property before their lawn was installed.  If you are building a new home, make sure to have at least 4 to 6 inches of good black dirt under your sod for proper growth.  The next thing that will help your lawn is proper fertilization.  You can check out some of our previous blogs here about proper fertilization.  Sunlight is the make or break it for a good lawn.  If your lawn does not get at least two hours of sunlight a day, most types of grasses will not grow and this includes shade varieties.  If you can’t get sunlight to the area, you should consider removing large sun blocking objects such as over grown trees or prune them.  If your area is small, consider landscaping the area instead.
