Emerald Blue Phlox

Emerald Blue Phlox is an excellent ground-cover perennial plant.  Phlox blooms in early spring with its abundant flower clusters.  The flowers are so plentiful that they cover up the majority of the foliage on the plant.  The lavender petals of this perennial flower are heart-shaped.  There are five heart-shaped flower petals on each flower.  The center of each flower is a darker shade of purple with a faint orange center.  The flowers of Emerald Blue Phlox are lavender in color.  The foliage of this plant is small and green.

Once the flowers are done blooming in late spring, the ground cover foliage adds greenery to your landscape.  Since phlox is creeping, you can expect it to spread in your landscape from year to year.  You can divide this perennial in the spring to add additional plants to your landscape.  The purpose of using phlox in your landscape is to create a ground cover.  If you are looking for a plant that will fill in bare areas in your landscape, then consider using this plant.  Usually, this plant stays under a foot in height, but it is known to get up to two feet tall in some scenarios.  Overall, this plant will complement most landscapes nicely.
