This variety of spirea produces white flower clusters.  Japanese White Spirea can be planted as a stand-alone plant or in rows to define a landscape.  Since Japanese White only grows to about two feet tall and wide, it makes an excellent compact plant for landscape installation.  The flowers of this plant can attract butterflies to your property.

The foliage of this spirea turns bright red, orange and purple in the fall.  Japanese White Spirea is a moderate growing plant.  This plant requires frequent watering during prolonged dry periods and extreme heat. Like other spirea varieties, Japanese White is hardy and works well in a variety of applications. This spirea prefers part shade to full sun growing conditions.

It is a good idea to spray spirea with a deer and rabbit repellent. In the winter, rabbits especially love to feed on this plant. A simple treatment of a repellent can avoid extensive destruction. Liquid Fence Deer & Rabbit Repellent Concentrate, 40-oz
