Autumn Blaze Maple ® is a popular choice for Midwest landscapes. This tree is a cross-breed between red maple and silver maple. The best characteristics of both trees are incorporated into this variety. The fall foliage is bright orange-red. The tree also grows dense and has healthy branching habits.
This tree grows fast like silver maple trees, making it more desirable for some applications than others. This tree grows well in both wet and dry conditions. When installing multiple Autumn Blaze Maple ® trees, leave at least 40 feet of spacing between the trees so that they do not grow together. Autumn Blaze Maple ® tops out at 60 feet tall, so make sure not to install it under power-lines or other utilities. Selective pruning should be done as needed to remove dead or damaged branches. It is also essential to remove branches that are growing out of form. Shaping a tree correctly from an early age will benefit the tree when it is mature.
