Crimson King Maple

Crimson King Maple trees are an excellent choice if you are looking for a moderate growing shade tree.  This tree maintains excellent form as it matures.  Mature trees are dense and provide a considerable amount of shade.  The dark purple foliage makes it a unique choice for landscapes.  The dark purple foliage maintains its color into fall and mixes in a dark orange tint as well.  Once this tree is established, it doesn’t require much maintenance other than the occasional fertilizing and pruning.

The best time to prune this tree is in the summer after the tree is leafed out. If you prune the tree in the winter or spring, it can cause bleeding. After the tree is fully leafed out, sap bleeding will no longer be an issue. As always, remove dead or damaged branches as soon as possible to help avoid any further damage.
