With the lack of rain this year, it is time to start watering plants. If you are like many of us across eastern Iowa your lawn is probably crispy and your plants are not living up to their full potential. Every day that passes without rain fall puts your plants more at risk of dieing. We have had quite a few customers request that our company start watering plants on their property. We now offer a watering service for daily or weekly watering. We have recently converted one of our landscape trucks to a full time watering truck. If you have a large property that is overwhelming to water by yourself, give us a call and we can start watering plants today. We understand that it is impractical for some property owners to water their own plant material because of the amount of plant material on their property. Sometimes there is not enough hours in the day to get everything done. What ever your reason is, it is cheaper to have someone water your plant material instead of replacing dead plant material.
Start watering plants and trees.
Generally speaking, most established trees should get a good slow soaking at least once every two weeks. Newly planted trees should be watered at least once to twice a week depending on how established the tree is. Shrubs and perennials should be watered at least once a week if they were installed in the past couple of years. Any trees, shrubs or perennials planted now should be watered daily for the foreseeable future until the temperatures come down below 90 degrees F. The best form of watering is a slow soak, but make sure that your watering saturates the area abundantly. If you frequently water there should be moisture left behind from a previous watering. The goal is to keep your soil moist so that your plants roots have a water source when you are not there to water.
