We are now preforming our summer lawn fertilizing in eastern Iowa. Some of our customers have expressed concerns about fertilizing during the drought. During this time, you can either increase the quality of the turf or further decrease it. We use stabilized nitrogen ™ products in most all of our fertilizing applications. To our knowledge, we are the only lawn company in this area using these products to treat lawns. Stabilized nitrogen ™ products are considerably more expensive than straight urea or sulfur coated urea (SCU). This is why you find our competition using quick release nitrogen or SCU. Most property owners do not know what is being put down on their property. All they know is that someone sprayed the weeds and fertilized the lawn. The purpose of this blog is to inform our customer of the benefits found in the products that we use. When you see us on your property this summer performing summer lawn fertilizing, rest assured that we are providing the best products for your yard.
Summer lawn fertilizing with stabilized nitrogen.
SCU products are acceptable and provide some decent benefits. We have used these products in the past and have now switched over to stabilized nitrogen™ products. I will list below some of the major benefits of stabilized nitrogen over SCU as a refresser or more in depth look. Using lower quality urea and SCU products during a drought and extreme heat may contribute to diminished turf quality.
Stabilized Nitrogen ™ Benefits for summer lawn fertilizing.
Minimized Volatilization- Delays the loss of nitrogen.
Minimized Burn Potential- Reduces the risk of burning by creating a more stable environment.
Reliable Stability- Provides the same consistent results regardless of the soil temperature or weather.
Consistant Growth- Provides consistant grass growth. Does not create excessive top growth.
Minimized Leaching- Leaching is minimized so that more nitrogen is stored for use by your turf grass.
Product Location- Stabilized nitrogen ™ helps deliver more product to the intended plant.
Slow Feeding- Feeds your turf grass slowly over time, providing consistant feeding.
